This week, neighborhoods gathered, residents came together, kids played and more as we celebrated National Night Out – an event that celebrates communities across the country and the special relationship between our public safety departments and the people they serve and protect. I was grateful to attend several neighborhood parties and connect with many of you. From touring fire trucks to meeting police dogs, it was clear that Boiseans had a great time connecting with Boise’s first responders.

National Night Out is such a special opportunity for us to come together as a community, and I love seeing everyone enjoy the summer weather and company of their neighbors. Community members organized car shows, cold treats, bounce houses, yard games, barbeques, music and so much more for their neighbors. It really is an amazing way to build relationships and get to know those around us – Boiseans are so lucky to have one another.

Thank you to all the police officers, fire fighters and Boiseans who worked to make National Night Out such a success. I appreciate your dedication to our beautiful city, and I am thankful for your contributions to our community.

Be well, Boise.

The City of Boise and JUMP (Jack’s Urban Meeting Place) invite you to bring a personal treasure back to life at Repair Café Boise on August 10th. Bring one item in need of repair and a volunteer repair team will help you diagnose and repair it for free. Check out the event page for details, including what kinds of items can be repaired at this event

City leaders and project partners dedicated a brand new skate park at Molenaar Park in Southwest Boise this week. It features a variety of rails, ledges, transitional space, and a mini bowl designed to challenge athletes of all ages and skill levels.

Did you know that many products advertised as “flushable” should actually NOT be flushed down the toilet? They clog household pipes and public sewer pumps and can cause expensive repairs, replacements and backups. To avoid these issues, make sure to only flush toilet paper and avoid flushing wipes, diapers, paper towels or kitty litter, even if it has a “flushable” label.

Rediscovered Books and Boise Public Library are pleased to welcome author Adam Rex for a chat with fellow Young Adult author Cynthia Hand about his first young adult novel, A Little Like Waking. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
